Hilarious spoofs on Bollywood controversies

The year gone by (2007) had an interesting mix of films. The first few months of any New Year are usually spent talking about the dozen odd award functions which take place, a post-mortem of the year gone by and of-course what's in store for the New Year.

While a lot has been spoken and written about all of the above, we couldn't resist sharing some really wild, wacky spoofs of some of the films, events and personalities who made news in B-town last year.

These images appeared in the January 2008 issue of film magazine, Cine-Blitz. So, enjoy and have the time of your life.

John-Kat sign YRF project

Just when we thought we were done with the latest news from the Yash Raj Camp with Shah Rukh Khan doing Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi for director Aditya Chopra, here comes word about another big one.

The banner will now unite Katrina Kaif [Images] and John Abraham [Images] for the first time.

The yet-untitled film will be directed by Kabir Khan. Khan made his feature debut with YRF's Kabul Express [Images] in 2006, starring John Abraham and Arshad Warsi [Images].

Following Dhoom in 2004, this will be John's third Yash Raj Films production.

While Katrina hasn't yet worked for the banner, this will be her second film for them. She is already committed to a film for them directed by Siddharth Anand and starring Ranbir Kapoor .

The John-Kat film will go on the floors in July, and release in 2009. The rest of the cast is still being finalised.

Speaking about the story of the film, Kabir Khan says, "This is a very relevant and contemporary story, and it is very close to my heart."

We all know there is no love lost between Salman khan and John so, I wonder if this prompted Salman khan to slap katrina in a cafe as reported by Mid-day which was vehemently denied by Katrina

Ayesha is losing roles because of her refusal to kiss

She said no to Nagesh Kukunoor, the guy who gave her career's best film, Dor. "I just couldn't do the kissing scene in Aashayein. We tried to find a way out. But it didn't work out for me. Fortunately for me, Nagesh is a dear friend. He didn't hold my 'No' against me. We completed Tasveer with Akshay Kumar in Canada. And there was nothing there to made me uncomfortable."

Ayesha is aware that her more uninhibited colleagues are making hey-hey-hey while she refuses to get bold on camera. "But I don't mind losing out on roles. At least ten years from now I don't want to look back and cringe at anything. I've a family and a boyfriend. And I don't want to embarrass anyone."

Ayesha has an exciting year ahead with films with big-league heroes. "After Sunday with Ajay Devgan, I'm working with Akshay Kumar in Nagesh Kukunoor's supernatural-psychological thriller Tasveer. We shot it in one stretch in Canada. Then, I've Prabhu Deva's Wanted, an action film with Salman Khan. Here I don't have much to do. I hang around doing whatever leading ladies do …sing, dance and purse my lips when the hero fights," she says with disarming honesty.

Candid in her self-assessment, she sees a boyfriend as no impediment to her career. "In fact, I'm so glad Farhan is not a part of the industry. And that he's a self- made man who loves me for whom I am. I don't think having a boyfriend is any problem for a career. The only annoying part of having a boyfriend is that every time I've a release I'm informed by the press that I'm getting married in two months. It irritates me. When I get married I'll announce it from rooftops. I'm proud of my boyfriend."

Boyfriend is no problem. But her self censorship code does hamper her onward progression. "There're things that I wouldn't do, like kiss and wear certain kinds of clothes. And yes that does put me at a disadvantage. But I'm very happy with the work that I'm getting. After Dor, I'm being taken seriously as an actress. "

Last year she had a patch of rough whether when Salaam-e-Ishq and No Smoking bombed. "Everyone kept asking why I reappeared in No Smoking in a double role. I'd like all questions about that film to be directed to the director Anurag Kashyap please. I've no clue. It was small role, just ten days' work. I'd do another film for Anurag anytime. He's a friend."

Ranbir doesn't love Deepika now

Reams are being written about Ranbir Kapoor's love life these days.

The 25-year-old son of Neetu and Rishi Kapoor admitted his fondness for Sonam Kapoor but at the same time he is being linked with his ex-flame Deepika Padukone as well. And Some says he is bonkers about Nandita Mehtani.

So whom is he dating? "Nobody. I swear to God!" answers Ranbir with a mischivious smile.

"Sonam is an amazing person, amazingly beautiful… and I wouldn't blame myself if I was in love with her; but unfortunately, I am not.

She has moved on to her next film and I have moved on to mine and we try to keep in touch," he adds.

But what about Deepika with whom he has shot a schedule in Australia for Yashraj film?

Says Ranbir, "My current relationship with Deepkia is totally professional. We have a great working relationship.

I met her while she was shooting for Om Shanti Om, and we realized we would be working together and I thought I should get to know her.

We were friendly, we used to go out for dinners with a bunch of friends. The media blew it out of proportion.

They were writing really nasty things and linking us together, which made it awkward between us."

She was already in a relationship at the time... then the two films were being compared to each other. It started getting a little ugly.

Her family was concerned, my family was concerned. Together, we decided to keep our distance and concentrate on our careers," he adds.

But their new found closeness at YashRaj sets might change all that. Let's just wait and watch if the foccused duo create space for their romance to blossom all over again or not.

Shah Rukh Khan to host a game show

Reality shows are on a constant rise. After the success of Kaun Banega Crorepati 3, Shah Rukh goes ahead to host his next reality show which is on the lines of the US-based show, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader.

The game show is tentatively titled as Bade Hue Tho Kya Hua - featuring adult contestants who will be questioned on subjects learnt by the children from first to fifth grade. Siddharth Basu, Head of Synergy Adlabs, confirms the news that Shah Rukh would be hosting the show. Synergy Adlabs would produce the reality program. The show was a grand success in US and hence is being re-created in an Indian version.

There will be five rounds in total and would be participated by both kids and adults. Seems like SRK is getting geared up to also rule the small screen.
