Like all other awards, IIFA Awards too has failed to get a place in Aamir Khan’s good books.
Aamir has given the snub to IIFA by not filing his directorial debut Taare Zameen Par for nominations. Amol Gupte, the writer and the creative director of Taare Zameen Par says, “The producer did not send Taare Zameen Par for nomination and that’s why the movie did not get nominated.”
Aamir has always been cynical towards awards. He never attends any award functions. By not filing Taare Zameen Par for IIFA nominations Aamir has made his standpoint very clear. On April 16th, Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador of IIFA Awards addressed the media, in which he made an indirect remark about Taare Zameen Par. He said, “There are many films that are very good. But still not all of them find a place in the nomination.”
Wizcraft which handles IIFA is helpless in including such a brilliant movie in the nomination list. Explaining this, the director of Wizcraft Mr. Sabbas Joseph says, “IIFA’s prescribed rules, requires all film makers who have released their creative works in India and international territories within the calendar year to fill in their nomination forms. Unfortunately, the producers of Taare Zameen Par did not fill up the nomination form.”
Mr. Sabbas further adds, “Taare Zameen Par is a very good film and it would have been fantastic to include its creators in this year’s edition of the Idea IIFA Awards.”
Darsheel Safary, the child prodigy of the film, bagged Filmfare Critics Award for best performance and Star Screen Award for best child artist.
