Despite rumours doing the rounds of a grand bash in Mumbai, actress Kareena Kapoor will not be able to celebrate her birthday with boyfriend Saif Ali Khan. Instead the actress will be shooting for Raj Kumar Hirani's 3 Idiots.

The actress who brings in her 28th birthday on September 21, will be in Ladakh, shooting for the film with actor Aamir Khan She will definitely not have time to fly down to Mumbai and attend a birthday bash, as is being speculated by some. The actress has been working ad traveling almost non-stop for almost the whole year and intends to continue to live like that for some more time. After she wraps up shooting for Hirani's film in Ladakh, she will move to Tuscany for Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakth Ishq.

Even saif will not be free to fly out and join her as he his busy with the shooting of his film in Delhi and Rajasthan. High on the actress's wish list for her birthday is to be able to sleep eight hours straight. Mallika Sherawat is angry with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. The actress, at the music launch of her film Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam, announced that she will be taking RGV to court for misusing her photograph in his film Contract.

The film has a scene where a police inspector is shown talking to Mallika's photograph suggestively. The actress has taken offense to the scene. "They will be getting a legal notice pretty soon," Mallika said.

Of course, this will not be the first time that RGV has taken potshots at his fellow colleagues from the industry through his films.

RGV's film Company ridiculed film director Karan Johar in one of its scenes, while his thriller flick Road took a dig at filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Mallika has also acted in RGV's film Darna Zaroori Hain but that did not deter the actress from taking legal recourse against the director. Her action could also be attributed to the actress's fervent desire of being taken seriously as an actor.

"I want my work to speak for itself," says the actress.

Debutant director Anand Rai whose thriller Strangers releases this Friday, has an interesting story to tell. "The script required a kissing scene. I nervously approached my leading lady Nandana Sen and spent some time convincing her. She eventually agreed. How was I to know the objection would come from the other party?"

The film's leading man Jimmy Sheirgill refused to smooch Nandana. "He was adamant. He said he wouldn't have done the film if he knew about the kiss. I had no option but to drop it." Anand is all praise for his cast. "Jimmy is among our most underrated actors. For the other leading man's role I needed a man of a few words. K .K Menon fitted the bill. As for the girl, I needed someone who would look convincing as a girl who has spent all her life in London. Nandana Sen was perfect."

Rai is quite bewildered by reports that Strangers is based in Alfred Hitcock's Strangers On A Train. "I really don't know where that came from. Yes, the film does have Strangers as its title and there's a train running through the plot. But beyond this, my film is as close to Hitchcock as Jimmy Shergill is to Jimmy Mistry. Mine is an original story," the debutant director brags.

Oh yeah? We shall see. Anand shot the film entirely in London. "And not as touristic city. I've gone into lanes and bylanes of London. And unlike other films shot abroad I've even shot the interiors in London." Yes, but Anand couldn't get Jimmy Sheirgil to kiss.

Katrina Kaif is currently busy with welcoming people to her upcoming marriage party. Well, it's not exactly that of her real life but for the upcoming film ‘Welcome’.

In ‘Welcome’ you can see her as the cynosure of four men’s eyes. And that made the damsel quite excited as she describes the shooting experience "as great fun”.

Says Katrina,“We enjoyed it. Nana was very sweet. He used to call me his daughter. He is hardcore Marathi and I am a modern western girl. So my bonding was good with him.

Anil Kapoor and Feroz Khan have played fantastic characters. This is my fourth film with Akshay which I had signed even before ‘Namastey London’, so it was great fun."

But was there any discord between her and co-star Mallika Sherawat?

"No, no, we have hardly any scenes together. We hardly ever met. She comes in the second half of the film. She's a temptress, who is playing between Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar. She's very different and funny in the film".

And did Mallika try to copy Katrina's hairstyle and clothes in ‘Welcome’ as was reported? Katrina plays safe with her answer. "Everybody has his/her own way of working. So let them live it the way they want to. Live and let live. I have nothing to say about it. I don't think it bothers me," she says trying to put rumours to rest.

There were also talks about Katrina getting a Gucci dress as a gift. She snaps, "I am tired of telling everyone it's not Gucci but Emilio Pucci. People have got it all wrong.

I had seen this dress on a magazine cover so I went to their store in Worli but since it was very expensive, I didn't buy it. It was sweet of them to gift it to me. But I am not going to visit Emilio Pucci in Italy. Then too I hope they gift me more dresses".

After ‘Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya’, Katrina is doing Subhash Ghai's ‘Yuvraaj’ where Salman is cast opposite her. "It's a comedy and I am looking forward to this film. It's something very special.

It's all about the equation between a boy's character and a girl's character. Subhashji is presenting it very nicely. It was a huge learning experience for me".

And then was the time to get a little personal. Salman Khan will be immortalized in wax very soon and we had to know Katrina's reaction. Katrina was also cleverly happy telling, "It's wonderful. I am very glad for him since he has represented the industry for so many years. He is popular here and I am happy for him".

But then she preferred not to talk more. "Right now I don't want to talk of Salman or myself. It is too personal and I don't want to talk about my personal life. I rather talk about my films, which I am looking forward to."

But what about the rumours doing the rounds that the film with Raj Kumar Santoshi was shelved because of Salman? Clarifies Kat, "It's complete nonsense. The script was on the similar lines of ‘Jab We Met’. Maybe I will work with Raj Kumar Santoshi again in the future."

According to insiders, Dia was relaxing in the swimming pool at the hotel where she was staying along with the rest of the cast when Rohit joined her.

As she was getting out of the pool, Rohit swam up to her from behind and pinched her bottom. The actress, shocked, left the pool in tears. The next day, Rohit behaved as if nothing had happened.

But Dia refused to speak to the actor and demanded that he apologize for his indecent behaviour. To make matters worse Rohit denied any such incident and claimed that he saw nothing in Dia that would prompt him to make advances at her.

Dia was extremely upset with Rohit's behavior and his attitude, but later the rest of the cast intervened and made Rohit apologise. When contacted, Dia did not wish to discuss the details.

All I can say is that such issues need to be handled with maturity, she said and reportedly refused to take the matter further as she did not wish to hurt Manasi.

Rohit, dismissed the whole thing as a ‘misunderstanding’. Such misunderstandings happen on every set. It was sorted out that very minute. There is no truth in the accusation. Moreover, no one asked me to apologise, he said.

The serial SMS-er of starlets Miraj has produced photographs proving he is married to Sanjay Dutt's 'wife', Manyata.Miraj is the man who admittedly sends nasty SMSes to starlets, sending them scurrying to the police station first, and the tv cameras second.

His latest victim, last week, was the starlet Poonam Jhawer, to whom he sent messages soliciting her services in return for Rs 5 lakh for the night.

Miraj says she owed him money over an album. He has previously been name for sending dirty messages to Naghma, Neha Dhupia, Celina Jaitley and Kangana Ranaut.

Miraj brought out photographs of him and Manyata at their nikah ceremony, and also on their honeymoon.

"We married at a flat in Mercury Park on February 5, 2003," he said, "and we have a three-year-old son who is in Dubai with Manyata's aunt."

His son's name was Mustafa, Miraj said.

"I've never spoken out about this because I haven't found it necessary," he said, "but this time I'm fighting for my son."
Sanjay Dutt has never admitted to marrying Manyata except in one slurred telephone interview with a Mumbai tabloid, recorded late at night.

However, he has often been seen with her, to the surprise of his friends.

Asked how he was separated from Manyata, Miraj said: "After our wedding we had planned to start a production house and I was supposed to direct a film."

"When I told Manyata I wanted Kareena in the film opposite Sanjay or Aamir, she fought with me because she wanted to star opposite Sanjay," he said.

He had met her "through an agency" he said.

At that time she called herself Dilnashin and claimed to be from Ahmedabad, he said.

Asked if they were now divorced, he said: "No, she has promised to take care of me and look after my needs."

He said he wanted to start a new life without her, but only after she handed over their son and half their money "from the Dubai bank."

After the much-hyped shaadi of Ash-Abhi, it’s time for another celeb wedding — Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra. The duo had a hush-hush engagement on Monday and is planning to tie the knot soon.

According to a source close to the family, “The roka took place at the same Chopra bungalow where Chandni was shot. Around 60 people (family and friends) attended the ceremony that included Rani’s parents Ram and Krishna Mukherjee, brother Raja and his wife. Present from the Chopra clan were brother Uday, dad Yash Chopra and mum Pamela Chopra.”

Jugal Hansraj (Uday’s close pal), Anupam and Kirron Kher also attended the ceremony. Adds our source, “Rani wore a maroon saari with silver embroidery and Aditya wore a kurta-pyjama, both designed by designer Pallavi Jaikishan. Pam aunty didn’t seem very happy, as she has a soft corner for Adi’s ex-wife, Payal. Another function will take place at Rani’s house next week.”

Also buzz is that after marriage Rani is not going to live in the Chopra house. Instead Aditya will live in the house, Rani has recently bought. Keep checking the space for more details.
