I'm a punjabi girl I'll marry soon!!!-Sonam kapoor

If "Om Shanti Om" has Shah Rukh Khan, "Saawariya" has Sanjay Leela Bhansali as its USP, say debutants Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor who bring with them not just their lineage but also the confidence that comes from being the children of successful stars.

Rishi and Neetu Kapoor's son and Anil Kapoor's daughter were in the capital Tuesday to drum up publicity for their film, the latest blockbuster from "Black" director Bhansali.

They admitted to pre-release anxieties - the film releases the same day as the much-awaited "Om Shanti Om" by Farah Khan - but put all their faith in "godfather" Bhansali.

"Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the USP of 'Saawariya'... If it ('Om Shanti Om') has the biggest star of the country, 'Saawariya' has the biggest director of the country," Ranbir said at a packed press conference.

"I don't know what to say about Sanjay Leela Bhansali. When you see the film, you will realise what a passionate filmmaker he is. He gives everything to his film. I don't have words to describe him. He is my godfather," added the latest Kapoor star on the firmament, dressed casually in blue jeans and a white jacket.

Handling media curiosity with the practiced ease of those who have lived with the paparazzi, Sonam and Ranbir fended even uncomfortable questions with a smile and a laugh.

Asked whether they felt uncomfortable in the love scenes, Sonam dismissed the very idea: "We are very good friends. I know him since he was a kid and I had that image in mind while doing the romantic scenes. I am happy that he is my first co-star."

Both agreed that being a star kid made their entry in filmdom easier, but it came with its own baggage.

"Being a star child always has its pros and cons. I would have not met Sanjay Leela Bhansali if I was not Anil Kapoor's daughter. But I am carrying baggage - I will constantly be compared with my father. The entry is easier but the path towards success is very difficult," said Sonam, dressed in a traditional salwar kurta.

"However, it is the audience who decides who they accept and who they don't. Right now if you notice, the top stars of the industry are not star children. Whether it is Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai... none of them have a lineage," she added.

Sonam says she never had any plans to be an actress.

"I just wanted to be an assistant director. I wanted to work for two years and learn and then go back to college. Fortunately, destiny played such a beautiful hand.

Bhansali saab said that you are 80 kg but you are very beautiful and you are the heroine of my next film. And I'm here right now," said the once ugly duckling perhaps who has obviously turned into a beautiful swan.

"I am a Punjabi girl. My parents know I will be married in four five years. But they told me if working in films will make you happy, go ahead and do it," she added disarmingly.

Ranbir is proud too of his lineage and says grandfather Raj Kapoor is his idol.

"My grandfather is my idol. I was very young when he died but I feel very close to him by watching his films. I don't want to copy my grandfather but yes, my inspirations start and end with him. I have a responsibility on my shoulders. I have to carry the legacy forward. I also want to direct films and I don't think I can have a better idol than him."

Releasing Nov 9, the musical love story also has Rani Mukerji and Salman Khan in important roles.

"I don't think that they will overshadow Sonam and I because our characters are written very well," said Ranbir.

"We are thankful to Salman sir and Rani Mukerji that they agreed to work in our debut film. I don't have any scenes with Salman sir but I have scenes with Rani Mukerji. She is such a fine actress that I learned a lot while shooting with her. The experience has made me a better actor."

Saawariya music launch-A star studded affair

Salman brought Sonam kapoor on the stage and it was Rani who escorted Ranbir kapoor or is it Ranbeer kapoor, than started the emotional family drama of everyone thanking everyone for their support and it was Sonam kapoor who broke into tears and than it was the turn of director Sanjay leela bhansali and then.............But it was Salman khan who stole the show and brought spunk to the otherwise dull and boring affair with his witty one liners, from taking a dig at Sanjay to mentioning that he had given his six packs to Shahrukh

Both the daddies Anil and Rishi looked very proud and nervous at the same time, and they mentioned, how they never wanted it to happen and bla bla.I just hope that Anil kapoor uncle will now stop working with the actresses of his daughter's age, like his counterpart rishi kapoor, anil kapoor is actually older than Rishi, can you believe that.

Its amazing how these star kids get everything on the platter.Bollywood is virtually closed for the talented outsiders, even if they get a chance their movies are not much talked about and they are never directed by guy like Sanjay leela bhansali

Saawariya latest 3 minute theatrical promo-[Staring ranbeer kapoor, sonam kapoor]

Latest promo of Sanjay leela bhansali's Saawariya, this time he does shows the faces of the lead stars of the movie. The budget of the marketing of the movie is believed to be whopping 200 million rupees, I bet half a couple of low budget movies can be made with that sum.It only goes to prove that marketing has become most important, but its can also prove to be a double edged sword if the product doesn't lives up to the expectations

Saawariya First look-Video trailer and snaps

film to be released in November 2007, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It will be released by Sony Pictures, and will thus be the first Indian movie produced by a Hollywood production house. It is based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's short story, White Nights

The teaser for one of the most awaited films of this year, Saawariya, has finally been released. The trailer echoes the lives of the two protagonists waiting for the love of their life to come to them. It begins with a shot of a young girl (Sonam Kapoor) lying almost lifeless in a boat as it rains down on her. Thereafter we see her running through the courtyards and up staircases all depicting her restlessness for the return of her love. The camera then moves onto a young boy (Ranbir Kapoor) as he walks in the hope of meeting his love someday. And then comes the moment when the two of them meet and lay the foundations a growing friendship and possibly more between the two. At the outset, the film looks typically Sanjay Leela Bhansali! Big and elaborate sets with immense detailing appear in every frame and remind one a lot of Moulin Rouge in terms of décor and lighting with music to match the grand look of the film. However, one thing to note is that the filmmaker has continued to keep his young debutants under wraps and refuses to show them completely in a single frame!

Based on Dostoyevsky’s short story “White Nights” that revolves around the life of the narrator in the book who spends four consecutive nights in the company of a girl named Nastenka. Prior to meeting her he is very lonely but through their meetings he falls in love with Nastenka while she is desperately awaiting the return of her lover who has promised to return to marry her. It has been a year and he has still not returned for her and so the narrator helps her pen a letter for her missing lover. And finally on the fourth night when the narrator does profess his love to Nastenka and she tries to face the possibility of them having a romantic future, her lover finally comes for her and forgetting about the narrator, Nastenka leaves with her lover.

In Sanjay’s Saawariya, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor play the two leads while Rani Mukherji and Salman Khan also play pivotal roles in the movie.
